Proposed Dissertation Title: UNDERSTANDING COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE IN THE ONLINE
DATING SERVICES

Project aims: The aim of this study is to examine the drivers of competitive
advantage within the online dating services. Specifically, the study is focusing
on how these services can be targeted towards the African community. The purpose
is to develop strategic competencies to reduce the negativity and stigma
attached to it while seeking to establish its market position
Project Outline: Online dating is new in the African community. In the past,
marriages were arranged by match making couples either by their parents or
family members. Africans therefore see online dating as alien to their culture
as it may encourage promiscuity or criminal intent. This is an erroneous notion
as most African especially those in the Diaspora are lonely due to their busy
schedules and do not have time to socialize.

The research method would include the following:

1. Data collection from sample African in Diaspora targeting London,
and United state of America 6 out of 25
2. Interviews with Diaspora's that already use the services and
online services owners
3. Descriptive and inferential analysis would also be adopted.
4. Information sources are online and physical libraries, other dating sites and
single events and any other useful material.

The information you are asking for is sensitive information to most companies. It is unlikely that they will disclose such data.

In addiiton, many companies looking to do competitive analysis of their own competitors "pose" as university students.

My suggestion is that you call the companies directly, provide a fax on university letterhead proving your credentials that you are actually doing research for a university.

I believe the people that run BlackPlanet.com have the largest african american dating community.
