Wow! Toby u found an amazing news.
What happaned was inevitable though fake profiles are hard to prove.
But if Match or Yahoo use "professional" daters, I'm wondering how much they squeeze from an average payee if it makes sense to through in 1 to 3 hours of an employee work. Old stats indicated that an average user paid for 3 to 3.5 months. So it's roughly $75.

Bum job though.....can you imagine working for match and having to spend all your time dating the database! I reckon it would be like playing russian roulette!

As for Yahoo, all the time I've looked at thier personals, say for UK - it's been young kids messing about or Ula from Ukraine who promises to love me like the man I am!

Hehe, great to hear. I'm not in the industry, just here as a user who's run into problems with Match.com.

Most users are unaware that if they contact someone and include their email address, it will be substituted with Match.com's own anonymous email address, forcing the recipient to also pay a subscription in order to reply. Many people wonder why they never get replies, and this is why. The user remains unaware that the person they contacted never actually received their email address.

Somewhere buried in the help system it implies that this is done, but very few members would be aware. Surely they don't have the right to alter the content of a subscribers personal email in this fashion? It's a downright devious attempt to make more money at the customer's expense, but I don't know whether it amounts to anything that's actually illegal. I would hope so!

So few people would sign up if they knew.

Rob.
